Professor Nihaya Al-sheyab is the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences at Jordan University of Science and Technology. She graduated from the Faculty of Health at the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia, in 2009 majoring in adolescent health behavior modification and was promoted to a full Professor in Child and Adolescent Health in 2021. Since graduation, Professor Al-sheyab has collaborated with scholars from different fields including physical therapy, nursing, veterinary medicine, and public health from Jordan and Australia. In June 2012, Professor Al-sheyab was appointed as an Honorary Associate at the Faculty of Health, University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) to continue her international collaboration with pioneer researchers worldwide. In 2014, she was also appointed as Research Affiliate at Charles Perkins Centre and Sydney Nursing School, University of Sydney in recognition to her research work in Sydney schools and immigrant communities. Professor Al-sheyab was awarded a one year RCR (Responsible Conduct of Research) fellowship in bioethics from San Diego University in the US and has been a mentor for fellow members, for three patches till now. Professor Al-sheyab led and is currently leading several projects on tobacco taxation, illicit trade, smoking cessation interventions for youth, and peer-led smoking cassation programs.
