Megan C. Diaz, Ph.D.
Megan C. Diaz, is a Research Director at the Schroeder Institute at Truth Initiative. Trained as an economist, Megan conducts outcomes research and modeling in support of evidence-based tobacco control. Megan’s research focuses on the economic analysis of substance use and abuse, and how prices, taxes and policies affect the demand for tobacco and alcohol. She has co-authored research on the evaluation of flavored e-cigarette restrictions on tobacco retail sales and direct to consumer advertising, the effects of tobacco control spending on e-cigarette use and prevalence, the prevention and reduction of illicit tobacco, and the health effects of raising tobacco, alcohol, and sugar sweetened beverage excise taxes. In addition, she has provided analytic work to support defending tobacco control and alcohol tax policies in international and state tribunals and provides technical expertise to the World Health Organization.
Megan has a Ph.D. and master’s in Economics from the University of Illinois Chicago.
